Family Adventure to Magnolia

Last year we bought an RV. It was the beginning of COVID and we missed traveling. We thought we’d try out RVing. It had been something we wanted to do someday, and the timing suddenly seemed right. We weren’t sure how we were going to like RVing. We decided to start off small in case we ended up hating it. There’s an RV dealership less than 1/2 a mile from us. One afternoon we decided to check out what they had on their lot. We told the salesman our ideal price range and what we thought we were looking for. He took us around the lot and showed us a couple he thought fit the bill for us. We pretty much knew we found what we wanted when he showed us the 27′ bunkhouse.

The Braxton Creek 27BH seemed to have everything we wanted and more. The boys have their own space with bunk beds. There’s a bathroom with a bath tub for the boys. The living area includes a dining room table, couch, and kitchen that even has an oven! The fridge is larger than some RV size fridges and is complete with a freezer. There’s ample storage space, and even a separate bedroom area with a queen size bed, closets, and TV for Brock and I. It was perfect, and with a name like Braxton Creek, how could we pass it up!?

We have been on many RV trips and had so much fun with the boys making memories we will never forget.

Our last adventure was to lake Waco. It was kind of our summer kick-off trip. Looking online I found a spot at Midway Park on the lake and the spot was next to the playground. We packed up and headed out on Friday after work. It was a short trip to Waco, right at 2 hours.

The park was clean, the lake water was high due to all of the copious amounts of rain we’ve been getting in Texas this last month. But our extra-large RV spot was perfect being right next to the playground, under beautiful cedar trees. The first night the boys played on the playground while we cooked burgers and hot dogs over the firepit. A memory I will never forget is this being the first night the boys saw fireflies. They were so intrigued with wonder. I tried to soak it all in, trying to see the joy through their eyes of the magical spark of those bugs in the dusk of the days end. I got them a jar and they caught over 20 fireflies and would’ve kept going long into the night. It was getting late and I knew those lightning bugs needed to return to the fresh night air.

The next morning we got around and headed into town. Our goal was to be at the Silos at 9:00 in hopes to beat the crowds. That was the key to our successful day there. We parked right at the corner of the silos and Magnolia Baking Co. There was already a small line of patrons outside of the baking co, but we had not planned on eating there as we already ate breakfast at camp. So if you plan to go, go early!

We were there for about 3 hours. With 2 little boys, that was just long enough! We had a blast and really enjoyed our time there. We were able to see and do everything in our morning trip. If you have more time, then you’ll be able to do more shopping, eating at the restaurants, and exploring around Waco.
